YOU BE THE JUDGE › Saturday, March 14 › 9:30 › Auditorium Dufour

COME TO OUR HAPPY HOUR ON THURSDAY, MARCH 12 IN THE HALL AT THE SALLE FRANÇOIS-BRASSARD IN JONQUIÈRE TO HELP DECIDE WHAT OUR FILMMAKERS CAN AND CAN'T DO IN THE IMPROVISED FILM COMPONENT OF THE FESTIVAL!

Director: Stéphane Lapointe

"Wow! I've just been asked to participate in the REGARD sur le court métrage au Saguenay Festival, and to create a short film for the improvised film component. I'm so excited! I've always loved moments when you have to improvise, when you just have to put it all out on the table – it meaning… well… umm… huh… well, that's exactly it. In improv, you don't have a safety net, you don't really have a choice in... um... yeah... For someone like me who's always got the right words for everything, right away... for... you know… well, yeah, anyway, you know what I mean. Whew, anyway, it's the chance for an artist to... well... to be like... to be… uh… to have to react to something totally out of the blue. Plus, yeah, I mean, over the course of my career in film, I've developed a really bold attitude… uh… The Festival... wow... yeah... oh man. Yay for improv... wham!
I guarantee you're going to experience a truly incredible moment of spontaneous magic." Stéphane Lapointe

From his work on Course destination monde to Tout sur moi, it's easy to see that Stéphane Lapointe's life has been an adventure and a half. At 16, the exceptionally talented and multiskilled Lapointe started writing comedy and gained early experience working at Croc magazine. He then worked as a concept designer, scriptwriter and director for Bons baisers d'Amérique, Au-delà du Réal, 100 limite, Le Club des 100 watts, Le Bye Bye de RBO 2006, and more. He has also written for several comedians, including Claudine Mercier and Pierre Verville, and has worked for the Just For Laughs Festival.
In 2000, he moved into the major leagues, directing Infoman and the year-end special Spéciaux Infoman, as well as seasons I and II of Hommes en quarantaine.
2006 was the year that really put Lapointe's name on the map when his first film, La Vie secrète des gens heureux, won the Claude-Jutra Award for the best Canadian feature film by a first-time director at the Genies.
