It was through my involvement in the short film community that I discovered, fell in love with, and then developed my passion for the “seventh art”. These little gems, often produced with little to no means but always with dogged determination and unstoppable energy, aren’t just experiments: these are accomplished works of art that deserve a lot more recognition than they’re currently receiving. This is why REGARD, a festival that perseveres all year long to make sure these films are seen, is so important.
I encourage everyone to come discover and immerse themselves in these new voices, to rediscover talented artists that have moved them in the past, and to explore the universe crafted by each artist. It is the public that makes the Festival a fertile environment for learning, exchanging ideas, and creating. I’m honoured to be this year’s spokesperson for the Festival.
Congratulations to the organizers for the Festival’s rich and diverse programming, as well as for the warm, welcoming atmosphere they’ve created.
Congratulations to the artists for their talent and courage.
And finally, congratulations to the public for supporting the festival year after year.
